What is a Receiver?
A receiver is a piece of equipment for a home audio system. It connects the input (Cable Box, Dvd player) to a video output, and usually has dedicated sound processing and speaker connections. Receivers usually put out 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound, the first number being the speakers around the room, and the .1 being the subwoofer.
